Salary Range: $38,700 - $56,200

This role may be based at of authorized locations within our market area, which includes Richmond, Williamsburg, & Kilmarnock, providing flexibility for qualified candidates throughout the region.

We are looking for a Fraud Analyst I to join our Fraud Risk Management team. In this role, you will help protect our customers and organization by reviewing suspicious activity, investigating fraud claims, analyzing transactions, and supporting the timely resolution of disputes.

Summary:

Supports fraud prevention and investigative efforts through detailed research, data analysis, reporting, and case administration. Helps minimize organizational losses, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide timely information, documentation, and insights related to claims and disputes, fraud investigations, and compliance matters.

Responsibilities: Monitor and analyze account, transaction, and identity theft activity to identify fraud risks, assess potential losses, and take appropriate action to mitigate financial and compliance exposure.

Manage, support, and resolve Reg. E disputes in a timely fashion.

Investigate fraud-related incidents including account takeover, identity theft, card fraud, ACH and wire fraud, P2P/Zelle fraud, returned deposits, and lower-dollar loss claims; refer complex or suspicious cases for further investigation, as appropriate.

Conduct research and gather evidence to support fraud investigations, regulatory reviews, insurance claims, account closures, and recovery efforts.

Utilize fraud detection systems, case management tools, reports, and databases to review alerts, manage cases, document findings, and support informed decision-making.

Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including Regulation E, FACTA, BSA, OFAC, and USA PATRIOT Act provisions; identify and escalate potential violations or suspicious activity.

Support investigators and management through data analysis, reporting, case tracking, documentation preparation, and regulatory research.

Serve as a resource for employees and members by responding to fraud-related inquiries, providing guidance, and facilitating timely resolution of fraud concerns.

Stay current on emerging fraud trends, threats, regulations, and industry best practices to strengthen fraud prevention and investigative efforts.

Communicate material fraud, loss, and compliance risks to management in a timely manner and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to protect organizational assets.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, adhere to enterprise policies and risk management standards, and complete required training.

Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.

Requirements: One year of banking experience, or demonstrated knowledge of financial transactions and banking regulations is required

Strong analytical skills

Desired certifications or willing to obtain within 12-18 months: Faster Payments Certificate Modules 1 & 2, and other industry certifications

Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel

Ability to self-motivate and take responsibility for personal growth and development

Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load independently

Aptitude to learn new software programs and job functions

Ability to handle sensitive and /or confidential material and information in an ethical and professional manner
