Freight ForwarderIselin, Nearest Major Market: New JerseyThe Freight Forwarder, Air Export is a crucial role in the transportation and logistics industry, specializing in managing the exportation of goods via air transport. This position is responsible for coordinating and executing the air export process, ensuring compliance with international regulations, and facilitating the timely and efficient shipment of goods to international destinations.Duties and Responsibilities:Manage and coordinate the export process for goods via air transportationLiaise with airlines, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operationsPrepare and review export documentation, including airway bills, commercial invoices and export declarationsEnsure accuracy and compliance with international trade and customs regulationsEnsure adherence to customs regulations and procedures for air cargo exportsAddress and resolve any customs-related issues or delaysCoordinate with airlines to book cargo space and negotiate favorable export ratesOptimize routing and carrier selection for cost-effective and timely shipmentsCommunicate with clients to gather shipment details, provide status updates, and address inquiriesProvide excellent customer service to ensure client satisfactionCollaborate with service providers, including airlines, ground handlers, and customs brokersNegotiate terms, resolve operational issues, and maintain strong vendor relationshipsNegotiate airfreight rates with carriers to achieve competitive pricingEvaluate and select the most suitable airfreight solutions for each export shipmentIdentify and resolve issues related to shipment delays, damages, or discrepanciesImplement corrective actions and preventative measuresEducational Background / Work Experience:Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferredMinimum of two years experience in air export operations, mandatoryFamiliarity with airfreight processes, customs regulations, and international tradeSkills & Competencies:In-depth knowledge of air export procedures and documentationStrong understanding of customs regulations and complianceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentAttention to detail and accuracy in documentationProficiency in using logistics and transportation management softwareAbility to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and ratesPreferred Qualifications:Certification in airfreight operations or customs compliancePrevious experience with airfreight carriers, ground handlers, or customs brokerageFamiliarity with customs automation systemsLanguage Skills:Fluent in English (verbal and written)Computer Literacy: Proficient in using logistics and transportation management software. CargoWise a plusFamiliarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to adapt to new technology platforms used in air export operations and logisticsThe expected base pay range is $25 - $30.50 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.DSV is an equal employment opportunity employer.
