Job TitleFuels Management TechnicianJob DescriptionThis is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the DC Air National Guard. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: You must meet the minimum military rank as specified in this announcement. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a DC Air National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position. Applicants applying to this position who exceed the maximum military grade listed on this job announcement MUST submit a statement in writing that they are willing to take an administrative reduction in grade to the advertised military grade on the job announcement for which applying. Applicants who exceed the military grade will NOT be placed into the technician position until they have been administratively reduced to the military grade on the job announcement. Please note that exceeding the maximum rank does not automatically qualify you for consideration. Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement The National Guard's full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Minimum Military Rank : E-4/SRA Maximum Military Rank : E-6/TSGT Other requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within One (1) year of appointment. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. This position is located in the Fuels Management Flight, within the Logistics Readiness Squadron, Mission Support Group, at an ANG Aviation Wing. The primary purpose of this position is to manage fuel on behalf of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) which consists of operations and maintenance of a fuel distribution system that includes a Type III Hydrant fuel system (at Air Refueling Wings) equivalent to a small fuel farm, fuels laboratory, cryogenic storage, bulk storage, base service station, fuels information service center, mobile fueling operations and the financial account management for missile propellants, aviation fuels, ground fuels and cryogenics utilized in support of aircraft, motor vehicles, engine test cells, powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), generators and heating systems required to support the Wing mission and transient aircraft.DutiesOrganizes, administers and evaluates a segment of the fuels quality assurance program for the organization.Directs, inspects, operates and maintains a complete fuel distribution system(s) to receive, store, transfer and issue both aviation and ground fuels in a Type III hydrant system.Performs operator maintenance to include checking components for operation, adjustment, pressures, and external leakage under pressure, removing/cleaning/inspecting receipt and dispensing strainers, calibrating additive injectors, draining water from lines, tanks, filter separator vessels and dike/containment areas.Operates one or more types of special purpose design aviation and ground fuel tank truck vehicles having a capacity of up to 6,000 gallons and gross vehicle weight of 70,000 pounds used for fueling/defueling various types of aircraft and ground fuels applications such as AGE, power production, heating and engine test cells.Performs other duties as assignedNote : This is not a comprehensive list of duties and responsibilities for this PD Number D as released in FASCLASS.
