Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) – Federal FacilitiesLocation: Fresno, CA Position Type: Armed Security Union PositionOverviewThis position is for an armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) assigned to various federal facilities in Fresno, California. All PSOs provide armed security services at designated federal buildings and installations.Position SummaryFPS Protective Security Officers are responsible for safeguarding federal buildings, government property, employees, and visitors. PSOs perform access control, monitoring, inspections, and emergency response duties while ensuring compliance with federal security standards.Primary ResponsibilitiesSecure federal buildings and government propertyProtect federal personnel, visitors, and assetsControl access to federal facilitiesConduct inspections and perimeter checksRespond to alarms, incidents, and emergenciesPrepare clear, accurate, and professional written reportsLicensing Requirements (California BSIS)Applicants must maintain current certification through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), including:Security Guard RegistrationFirearms PermitBaton PermitApplicants who do not currently hold these certifications must complete required state-mandated training through BSIS prior to licensure.General QualificationsU.S. Citizen OR Lawful Permanent Resident who is:Currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces ORHonorably discharged from any U.S. Armed Forces branch (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)Issued a valid Social Security card bearing the applicant's name and numberMinimum 21 years of ageAbility to fluently speak, read, write, and comprehend EnglishExperience & Education RequirementsApplicants must meet one (1) experience requirement and one (1) education requirement below:Experience (One Required)Minimum two (2) years of armed security experience, orMinimum one (1) year of full-duty law enforcement experience with a municipal, state, or federal agency (retired or resigned in good standing), orMinimum two (2) years of honorable service in any U.S. Armed Forces branchEducation (Required)High school diploma or GED from an accredited institutionEducation may be verified via DD Form 214, if applicableJob RequirementsClean background (no felony convictions or domestic violence/assault charges)Pass a medical evaluation (company paid)Pass a drug screening (company paid)Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background clearance (company assistance provided)Required CertificationsCalifornia State Security Guard RegistrationCalifornia State Firearms PermitCalifornia State Baton PermitValid driver's licenseCPR / First Aid / AED certification (training provided by the company)Training RequirementsAll applicants must complete required training prior to standing post, including:One (1) week of classroom trainingOne (1) week of range/weapons trainingTwo (2) days of X-ray and screening trainingAll training is paidTraining pay is providedAll uniforms, gear, duty weapons, and ammunition are provided by the companyCompensation$31.15 per hour total$26.01 base pay$5.14 Health & WelfareBenefits401(k)Health insurancePaid time offEmployee referral programScheduleVaries based on operational needsUnion MembershipAll Protective Security Officers on this contract are members of a union.
