Job description
Cedredge High School CustodianImmediate opening for full-time custodian for the school year. Position includes 249 days per year, 8 hours per day, with a rate of $17.99 per hour, plus benefits depending on experience. Health insurance is available through the school district, and retirement benefits are provided through PERA. Must pass and pay for a fingerprint/background check.Physical demands for this custodian position include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant climbing and balancing; and significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. The lifting requirements are: 100 lbs (sometimes), 50 lbs (frequent), and 25 lbs (continuous). Responsibilities include:Emptying small trash cans into large trash bags and lifting and tossing the bags into the outside trash dumpster.Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping daily, including mopping the cafeteria/commons and identified classroom floors, shampooing carpets, and stripping, sealing, and waxing identified classroom floors at least once a year.Cleaning and dusting student's desks, teacher's desks, bookshelves, whiteboards, and all other surfaces.Cleaning all window glass on entryway doors and classroom doors, including using a ladder to clean all windows once a year.Cleaning and disinfecting drinking fountains, eating areas, sinks, mirrors, and toilets multiple times each day.Setting up and taking down chairs and tables after school breakfast and lunch and for all other school functions.Opening, setting up, and cleaning to host events in various classrooms and commons areas within the school.Shoveling snow from school entryways and sidewalks, and throwing ice melt, which involves lifting, pushing, bending with the shovel, and lifting and shoulder rotation to throw the ice melt.Performing minor repairs such as light fixture maintenance, which can involve climbing, lifting, and reaching overhead.Cleaning, disinfecting, and mopping bathrooms, toilets, urinals, sinks, and counters, which involves using chemicals and stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
