Full-Time Security OfficerConcordia University is needing a Full-Time Security Officer who wants to be a part of this mission. The main campus (and this role) is located in Seward, Nebraska. If you thrive in a Christian atmosphere and community-driven environment, you will enjoy Concordia University's community feel.Position Purpose: Under the supervision of the Director of Security, the Security Officer patrols assigned territory to protect persons and property. Position will work from 4pm to midnight, Monday-Friday. Occasional weekends may be required. Must be at least 19 years of age to apply. Position pays $17 an hour.Responsibilities:Tours buildings and property of the university, examining doors, windows and gates to assure they are secure.Inspects premises for such irregularities as signs of intrusion, interruption of utility services, suspicious acts or persons and fire or safety hazards.Inspects fire alarms, fire extinguishers, closed circuit television and access control systems for signs of tampering.Answers alarms, investigates disturbances and calls appropriate authorities as required by situation.Answers lock out calls from students or faculty/staff.Locks and unlocks doors according to schedule.Assists visitors or the general public in problems that may arise on the university campus.Writes reports of irregularities and keeps a daily log.Maintains confidentiality of security information.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Previous experience as a security officer preferred.Certifications:Certified in CPR and First Aid.Must have valid driver's license.Special Position Requirements:Ability to walk for 30-40 minutes per hour during an eight hour shift.Ability to climb up to three flights of stairs at a time.Ability to withstand outdoor weather conditions throughout the year.Vision correctable to 20/20 required.Hearing correctable within a normal range required.Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.Must possess a good moral character.Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.Considerable physical activity, requires heavy physical work, heavy lifting, pushing, pulling required up to 25 pounds.
