Game Day Support StaffLakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for a Game Day Support Staff, which will include game announcers, scoreboard/shot clock operators, and ticket takers. The expected seasonal coverage is for our winter season (November - March) this year.ResponsibilitiesGame Announcer, Scoreboard/Shot Clock OperatorBoys and Girls Basketball6 pm - 9 pm, but may vary by game scheduleGame Announcer ResponsibilitiesThis person, reporting to the Upper School Athletics Event/Equipment/Facilities Manager, will be responsible for announcing at home athletic events and help to create an exciting game-day experience. Duties include:Announcing home games for basketball, football, and volleyballIntroduce all players, teams, coaches, and officialsProvide score, fouls, substitutions, timeouts, and other important game informationProvide other important information needed during gamesCreate a positive and energetic atmosphere for participants and spectatorsArrive on time and prepared for each scheduled gameScoreboard/Shot ClockThis person, reporting to the Upper School Athletics Event/Equipment/Facilities Manager, will be responsible for announcing at home athletic events and help to create an exciting game-day experience. Duties include:Operate and reset the shot clock during basketball gamesFollow instructions from game officialsMaintain accuracy and focus throughout the entirety of the gameRequirements and QualificationsAt least 19 years of age.Comfortable speaking in front of a crowd and interpersonally with officials and coaches.Great communication skills.Familiarity with basic sport-specific rules and terminology.Reliable and punctual.Previous announcing or sports experience is helpful, but not required.Satisfactorily complete at least two criminal background checks.The statements in this job description are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work to be performed by (an) individual(s) assigned to this position. Essential and marginal job functions are subject to modification.Compensation and Benefits Stipend range: $40-50/hour, depending on experience We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons.
