nMain Function:
nGastroenterologist duties include consulting and diagnosing patients, inspecting internal organs through endoscopic procedures and consulting with patients' primary physicians, among other duties. They are highly skilled specialists with a comprehensive understanding of all gastroenterological conditions and treatment options.
nThompson Health has abundant specialty services on site and an affiliation and broad network partnership with the University of Rochester!
nGastroenterologist Responsibilities:
nnnConsulting with patients to understand their health concerns.
n
nnPerforming specialized tests to diagnose patients.
n
nnDetermining proper courses of treatment.
n
nnConsulting with a patient's primary doctor.
n
nnAnalyzing patient historical data.
n
nnConsulting with other specialists, such as oncologists, in the case of cancer.
n
nnPerforming endoscopic procedures to inspect internal organs.
n
nnPerforming X-Ray, MRI and ultrasound scanning
n
nnPerforming surgery in the digestive tract
n
nnLives the CARES values at all times.
n
n nSchedule: Typical schedule is 3 days scoping, 1.5 days in office 8a-4:30p. Call schedule is 1:4 which looks like one week day per and one weekend per month.
nQualifications:(Licenses, Certifications)
nnnAttainment of certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
n
nnProficiency in performing endoscopic and colonoscopy procedures.
n
nnProficiency with X-Rays, MRIs and ultrasound scanning.
n
n nEducation:
nnnMedical degree.
n
nnCompletion of a three-year internal residency.
n
nnCompletion of a three-year Gastroenterology fellowship.
n
n nExperience:
nn3 years preferred; none required
n nPay Range: $500,000-$600,000
nStarting Rate: Based on experience
