About the Facility This health system facility maintains the clinical infrastructure and established protocols necessary to support inpatient and clinic-based gastroenterology locum tenens coverage. The facility is equipped with 2 endoscopy suites, on-site laboratory services, and on-site X-ray, supporting a structured gastroenterology program with a permanent staff of 3 MDs. The facility is structured to ensure continuity of specialized care for an adult patient population.
About the Facility Location The Eastern Shore of Virginia offers clinicians on assignment access to a range of natural and recreational attractions suited to varied interests. The area is home to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, providing opportunities for wildlife observation and exploration of coastal habitats, as well as the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, a notable infrastructure landmark. Clinicians will find marina access points, waterways, and coastal scenery throughout the region, providing accessible options for leisure during time away from clinical responsibilities.
About the Clinician's Workday The gastroenterologist will provide inpatient and clinic-based gastroenterology coverage on a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with weekend shifts running 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM at this on-site facility. Call coverage is a required component of this assignment, structured from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM on an unrestricted basis, with an average of 1-2 callbacks expected. Clinical responsibilities include managing an average daily census of 20-25 patients, 8-10 admissions, and an average of 4 procedures per day, including 2-4 add-on procedures; ERCP proficiency is preferred for this assignment. Clinical documentation is managed through the EPIC EMR system, and the facility is equipped with 2 endoscopy suites, on-site lab, and on-site X-ray.
