Job description
Schedule: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM in-house coverage with overnight call
EMR: Epic
Position Overview:
Seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for ongoing inpatient locum coverage in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a higher-acuity GI opportunity with both ERCP and EUS required.
Schedule & Clinical Coverage:
12 hours of in-house coverage, 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
Overnight call from 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
24-hour call coverage
Assigned inpatient rounding and consultations
Admissions required
Approximately 15 patients per shift
Typical admissions: 5 10
Call-back volume: approximately 30%
Must be available for full 7 14 day stretches; partial weeks are not considered
Procedures:
ERCP diagnostic and therapeutic
EUS
Upper GI endoscopy
Colonoscopy
Flexible and rigid sigmoidoscopy
Endoscopy with biopsy
Polyp removal
Foreign body removal
Treatment of GI bleeding
Variceal injection
PEG
Esophageal dilation
Esophageal manometry interpretation
Small bowel biopsy
Liver biopsy
Sengstaken/Blakemore tube insertion and management
Requirements:
Board Certified in Gastroenterology required
Gastroenterology fellowship preferred
Active New Mexico medical license required
Active New Mexico Board of Pharmacy registration
DEA that can be dedicated to New Mexico for the assignment
BLS and ACLS
Recent experience performing both ERCP and EUS
Ability to supervise APPs
Support & Travel:
Support includes 3 RNs and 3 APPs
Temporary privileges are available
