Job description
Gelcoat ApplicatorGelcoat is a liquid that hardens to form a thick layer of protective fiberglass and gives a shiny, smooth finish. This position applies gel coat to production hull and deck molds by using hand operated spray equipment.Essential FunctionsOperates spray gun to apply various coats of gel coat to molds according to production schedule, ensuring color, finish and thickness are adhered to.Pulls tape on deck or hull molds.Maintains and cleans test gel coating equipment to ensure it operates as required.Maintains a clean and environmentally safe work area.Continued awareness and protective actions regarding all health, safety and chemical protocols and processesAll other duties as assignedExperience/QualificationsMinimum degree required: High school diploma or equivalentKnowledge, Skills, and AbilityMust follow all safety standards and proceduresPositive attitude, high dependability, and promotion of good moraleMust adhere to all quality standards and adhere to new standards as processes evolvePass a pulmonary function test and abide by a respiratory protection program to wear a respiratorTravel RequirementsN/APhysical RequirementsLight lifting, under 20 lbs.Light carrying, under 20 lbs.Moderate lifting, 21-59 lbs.Moderate carrying, 21 – 59 lbs.Straight pullingPushingRepeated bendingReaching over shouldersUse of fingersWalkingStandingKneelingRepeated stretchingSpecific visual requirementsAbility to distinguish basic colorsAbility to distinguish shades of colorHearing (aid permitted)Work EnvironmentOutside and insideExtreme heatExtreme humidityExtreme noise, intermittentDustFumes, smoke, or gassesSolvents (degreasing agents)Slippery or uneven walking surfacesIndependent JudgementPerforms tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation.
