Job description

General Interest Application

We are always on the lookout for passionate, dedicated individuals who are interested in supporting our mission through legal, policy, communications, development, and operations work.

If you don’t see an open role that matches your background or interests, we encourage you to submit

a general application. We review all submissions and may reach out if a suitable opportunity becomes available.

Our Mission

Our Children's Trust is a non-profit public interest law firm that provides strategic, campaign-based legal services to youth from diverse backgrounds to secure their legal rights to a safe climate. We work to protect the Earth's climate system for present and future generations by representing young people in global legal efforts to secure their binding and enforceable legal rights to a healthy atmosphere and stable climate based on the best available science. We support our youth clients and amplify their voices before the third branch of government in a highly strategic legal campaign that includes targeted media, education, and public engagement to support the youths' legal actions. Our legal work – guided by constitutional, public trust, human rights laws, and the laws of nature – aims to ensure systemic and science-based climate recovery planning and remedies at federal, state, and global levels. We seek legally-binding, countrywide and/or statewide science-based Climate Recovery Plans that will return atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations to levels below 350 ppm by the year 2100.

Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidates are:

Passionate about climate justice and youth empowerment

Skilled professionals in law, policy, climate science, advocacy, fundraising, communications, operations, or nonprofit management

Strong collaborators with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism

Effective communicators with a drive to advance systemic change through innovative and strategic thinking

Possible Areas of Opportunity

Legal: Climate litigation, constitutional and environmental law, legal research, youth client advocacy

Policy & Advocacy: Legislative strategy, youth organizing, climate education

Communications: Storytelling, media relations, content creation, digital campaigns

Development: Fundraising strategy, grant writing, donor engagement

Operations: HR, finance, administration, project management

How to Apply

Submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your area(s) of interest and how your background aligns with Our Children’s Trust’s mission and values. We’ll keep your materials on file for six months and may reach out as roles

open up.
