General Ledger Accountant - Part Time

nJob Description:
nThe Specialist, General Ledger Accounting will report to the Manager, General Accounting and will be part of the team responsible for providing rapid and high-quality financial information. This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including monthly general ledger and overhead closings, balance sheet and income statement flux analysis, quarterly review and year-end audit preparation and SOX processes under tight close and reporting deadlines.
nEssential Functions:
nnnSupporting monthly financial close and reporting, including:
n
nnPreparing monthly journal entries, including entries related to sub-ledger postings (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Ledger and Fixed Assets), leasing activities, rent, deferred cost, reserves, IT accruals and various cost reclassifications.
n
nnReview and disposition of postings to the interface and sub-ledger clearing accounts.
n
nnProcessing monthly manual cost adjustments for recurring items including lease expense and severance or retention payments.
n
nnProcessing (manual cost adjustments) for non-recurring charges, including those that post incorrectly into our ledger from sub-ledgers or interfaces. This may require collaboration with the Project Cost Accounting team and others within Finance to properly and timely resolve.

nnPreparing month-end accruals
n
nnPreparing account reconciliations, including verifying that reconciling items are timely investigated and resolved.
n
nnPreparing monthly and quarterly reporting corporate supplementary schedules.
n
nnPreparing variance analysis as requested by management to support quarterly analytical reviews and/or monthly financial reviews.
n
nnSupporting the accounting control environment, by:
n
nnPreparing and providing support of audit requests for external, internal and DCAA audits
n
nnEvaluating SOX process documentation and supporting the annual SOX walkthrough and testing efforts.
n
nnRecommending and implementing continuous process improvements.
n
n nSkills:
nnnGeneral ledger accounting (preparing journal entries and account reconciliations).
n
nnFinancial analysis (i.e. – account and variance analysis).
n
nnProficiency in Microsoft Excel.
n
nnIndependent, self-motivated individual with strong organization skills and attention to detail.
n
nnAbility to prioritize and meet deadlines.
n
nnAbility to effectively communicate with various levels of personnel and to work in a team environment.
n
nnAbility to make decisions and exercise some independent action in the completion of job duties
n
nnFamiliarity with Oracle EBS
n
nnExperience auditing financial statements
n
nnExperience working in the accounting organization for a public company
n
nnCPA, MBA or CMA
n
n nEducation:
nnnBachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
n
nnGraduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
