About Redwood Materials
Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America - recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.
General Ledger Accountant
The General Ledger Accountant supports the general ledger accounting function for Redwood's global organization. The role contributes to month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls, working closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Planning & Analysis. It's a hands-on position within a fast-growing company, with exposure across the full accounting cycle rather than a single narrow function. This is a strong fit for an accountant early in their career who wants breadth and real ownership of the work.

Responsibilities will include:
Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial statement preparation
Maintain the general ledger system, posting journal entries and ensuring the accuracy of account balances
Prepare financial reports and analysis, including variance analysis and trend identification
Process intercompany transactions and reconcile intercompany balances to resolve discrepancies
Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls over the general ledger process, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency across the function
Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits, responding to inquiries and requests as needed
Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Planning & Analysis on cross-functional initiatives and accurate financial reporting
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
1-3 years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience
Previous internship or co-op experience in accounting or finance preferred
Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Self-motivated and proactive, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
