General Maintenance HelperThis position is a Level 4 on the Maintenance hourly rate schedule. Pay is determined by years of applicable, paid experience, $ /hr. General Benefit Information - Positions (or a combination of two positions) working more than 20 hours per week are considered full-time and will qualify for full benefits including health insurance, supplemental insurance options, medical and dependent flex spending accounts, and paid, accumulated sick leave. Eligible for 11-17 paid holidays depending on number of months on your regular schedule. Eligible for a free DRC membership for the employee. A $20,000 or $10,000 life insurance policy paid for by the district depending on full or part-time status. Positions working 12 months out of the year also accumulate paid vacation leave. See more information about district benefits through the Payroll and Benefits webpage.Qualifications1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. Knowledge of plumbing and maintenance systems.3. Valid Kansas driver's license.Essential Functions1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities a. Maintain school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. b. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district. c. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. d. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary. e. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions a. Requires prolonged sitting or standing. b. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. c. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching. d. Requires climbing and balancing. e. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round. f. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments. g. Must be able to work in and around dust, fumes and odors. h. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. i. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.General Responsibilities1. Assist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition.2. Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds.3. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.4. Perform maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with plumbing and special systems.5. Move equipment and materials within and between school buildings.6. Assist in snow removal from school district building walkways, entrances and parking areas.7. Adhere to all district health and safety policies.8. Other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor, which are consistent with the general requirements, and qualifications of the position.
