This includes managing and focusing on measures associated with safety, quality, cost, productivity and profitability of the plant. This position is located onsite and will report to the Texas Area Vice President.
The strategy for this Sheet Plant is to be the premier high-graphics corrugated packaging partner in Texas, delivering vibrant multi-color printing, displays, direct-print flexo, labeled, and digital solutions. We will be the trusted one-stop shop for customers seeking superior graphics, reliable processes, and exceptional responsiveness.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
Develop and implement business plans that align with the strategic vision for the Houston Sheet Plant.
Nurture a culture that is highly focused on customer needs, on their service, and on always delivering more than expected.
Build an engaged and high performing team that works collaboratively to drive change initiatives in the business.
Ensure all safety, environmental, and quality requirements are met.
Execute initiatives that will improve P&L results through capital expenditure, manufacturing cost reductions, and operating efficiencies.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives tied to the strategic direction.
Build partnerships with Area and Corporate Sales Managers to identify growth opportunities and maintain relationships with key accounts.
Build effective collaboration with other Plants, Sales, Logistics, Production, Safety and Quality Managers, to better serve customers that cross multiple business units.
What You Need To Succeed
Operate with the customers’ best interest in mind and a high focus on customer satisfaction.
Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering strongly preferred.
Bring 7-10 years of progressive manufacturing management experience in the packaging industry, and proven experience in budget and financial management.
Have a track record of goal setting and achievement and demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate diverse teams.
Ability to initiate projects in pursuit of greater profitability, anticipate potential problems and address them early.
Ability to facilitate the development of others’ knowledge and skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of capital management (P&L and capital budgets) and analyzing financial data.
Must possess excellent strategic planning and analytical skills.
Ability to respond quickly to changing demands, processes, and new information.
Communicate effectively with the ability to adjust communication style based on audience.
