Role Description
The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Lompoc, CA, responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations. This role includes leading and coaching store team members, managing staffing and scheduling, and ensuring high standards of customer service and pet care. The General Manager monitors sales performance, drives revenue and profitability, manages inventory, and maintains a safe, clean, and compliant store environment. Day-to-day responsibilities also involve executing company initiatives, analyzing business metrics, optimizing merchandising, and building strong relationships with customers and the local community. The General Manager collaborates with district and corporate partners to align the store with organizational goals and brand standards.
Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, coaching, and performance management.
Strong retail operations experience in areas such as sales management, inventory control, merchandising, and cash handling.
Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to resolve issues, engage pet parents, and build lasting relationships.
Organizational and problem-solving abilities, including comfort with analyzing store metrics, setting priorities, and making data-informed decisions.
Basic business and financial acumen, including understanding of profit and loss, budgeting, and expense control.
Ability to work on-site full-time in Lompoc, CA, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Comfort working around and handling companion animals, with a genuine interest in pet welfare and safety.
Previous experience in retail management or a similar supervisory role; experience in pet or specialty retail is a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary education in business, management, or a related field is beneficial.
