Job description

Overview

Toolcraft is seeking a dependable, hands-on Store Manager to lead our retail operations and support our employees and customers. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the store, including staff management, customer service, inventory, merchandising, sales, and store organization.

The right candidate will have retail leadership experience, strong customer service skills, and general knowledge of construction tools, equipment rentals, parts, and small-engine equipment. Because Toolcraft covers such a wide range of products and services, we do not expect one person to know everything. A willingness to learn, ask questions, and build product knowledge is essential.

Our store has recently been remodeled, and the new manager will play an important role in organizing the space, creating effective product displays, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for customers and employees.

Duties

Hire, interview, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate employees

Provide clear expectations, regular feedback, and support to team members

Address employee performance concerns fairly, directly, and consistently

Ensure the store has appropriate staffing and coverage, including occasional Saturdays

Build a positive, team-oriented work environment

Lead by example and assist the team wherever needed

Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and professional customer service

Help customers identify the right tools, equipment, parts, or rental products for their needs

Respond to customer questions and resolve concerns professionally

Oversee inventory, stock replenishment, pricing, and product availability

Work with the parts managers, who assist with product ordering

Maintain organized and effective merchandising and product displays

Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase sales

Use the point-of-sale system and inventory management software

Perform limited daily cash handling and register reconciliation

Conduct team meetings and communicate store goals, expectations, and updates

Create and manage social media content to advertise products, rentals, promotions, and store updates

Ensure employees follow company policies and safety procedures

Maintain accurate records and communicate clearly in person, by email, and in writing

Skills

Previous retail leadership or supervisory experience preferred

General knowledge of construction tools, equipment rentals, parts, and small-engine equipment

Willingness to continue learning about Toolcraft’s products and services

Strong customer service and problem-solving skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy retail environment

Comfortable using computers, POS systems, inventory software, email, and social media

Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills

Experience with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee development

Ability to coach employees and handle difficult conversations calmly

Dependable, patient, and able to follow through on responsibilities

Comfortable receiving feedback and making necessary improvements

Willing to take responsibility for store operations and the performance of the team

Valid driver’s license

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds

CDL is a plus, but not required

Schedule

The regular schedule is generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional Saturday coverage is required to maintain appropriate staffing and cover employee vacations. The manager’s weekday schedule or day off may vary when Saturday coverage is needed.
