The Opportunity
A leading and fast-growing power infrastructure contractor is seeking a General Superintendent – Substation Construction to oversee field execution across a portfolio of high-voltage substation projects in the Midwest.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving field performance, safety, and project delivery , ideal for someone who thrives in complex builds and wants to play a key role in delivering critical grid infrastructure.
With major investment in grid modernization, renewables, and transmission expansion, this is a strong opportunity to step into a leadership position with long-term growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day field operations across multiple substation construction projects
Oversee execution from site mobilization through commissioning and energization
Drive a strong safety-first culture across all crews and site teams
Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors
Supervise and mentor foremen, crew leads, and field personnel
Support planning activities including lookaheads, resource allocation, and scheduling
Manage subcontractors and ensure alignment with site standards and expectations
Maintain strong communication with internal teams and client representatives on-site

Ideal Candidate Profile
8–15+ years of experience in substation, T&D, or heavy civil construction
Strong background in field supervision (Foreman, Superintendent, or General Superintendent level)
Proven ability to lead multiple crews and coordinate complex site activities
Solid understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and safety practices
Experience working with utilities or EPC contractors
Willingness to travel across the Midwest as required
