GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT - HEALTHCARE CONSTRUCTION

Dallas Metroplex | Ground-Up Hospitals & Healthcare

Lead some of the most complex healthcare construction projects in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

One of the premier mechanical contractors in the Dallas Metroplex is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead a portfolio of major hospital and healthcare construction packages.

This is a senior field leadership opportunity for a construction professional who understands what it takes to deliver ground-up hospitals, healthcare facilities, major additions, expansions and complex renovations in highly coordinated, schedule-driven environments.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of construction management experience , strong knowledge of construction means and methods, and the leadership ability to coordinate multiple projects and trade groups while developing the next generation of field leaders.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The General Superintendent will lead and coordinate multiple construction projects in collaboration with project management, construction site teams, trade partners and company leadership.

Responsibilities will include establishing project assignments, schedules and responsibilities; organizing construction personnel; coordinating manpower and resources; and ensuring materials and equipment arrive when needed to maintain the project schedule.

This position will have significant responsibility for hospital and healthcare packages , with an emphasis on safe, high-quality execution and predictable project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead multiple healthcare construction projects and provide technical expertise to project partners to ensure safe, high-quality execution.

Direct, organize and coordinate construction personnel across multiple projects and trade groups.

Develop project assignments, timetables, manpower plans and responsibilities for field teams.

Establish and adjust work sequences to maintain construction schedules based on available manpower, equipment and resources.

Manage, coach and develop direct reports while providing meaningful performance feedback and career development.

Monitor field productivity and confirm earned value and the accuracy of forecasted percent completion.

Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards and project requirements.

Identify and eliminate construction and jobsite hazards while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Apply LEAN and reliability principles , including pull planning, six-week look-ahead schedules, value mapping and constraint logs.

Estimate worker-hour requirements and manpower needs to meet project schedules and budgets.

Monitor field schedules and coordinate them with overall project schedules.

Provide material takeoffs, estimates and pricing associated with changes in scope.

Identify and resolve productivity issues, work interfaces, manpower challenges and schedule difficulties.

Communicate potential problems, work interferences and schedule concerns to senior leadership and project management.

Coordinate closely with Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering and other internal departments to ensure materials, equipment, inspections and technical resources support field activities.

Conduct pre-job and ongoing planning meetings to ensure project teams understand contract requirements, schedules, unusual conditions and project expectations.

Maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, engineers and internal project teams.

The successful candidate will be a proven construction leader with the ability to see the big picture while maintaining control of field execution .

Required / Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of relevant construction management experience

Significant experience with healthcare and hospital construction

Strong preference for ground-up hospital construction experience

Experience managing multiple projects, packages or trade groups

Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods

Expert understanding of building products, construction details, quality standards, rules and regulations

Ability to read and interpret:

BIM/coordination drawings

Specifications

Details

Job orders

Thorough understanding of all phases of the construction process

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain construction schedules

Experience with manpower planning, productivity and project forecasting

Strong conflict and crisis-management skills

Proven leadership and team-development abilities

Excellent time-management and project-management skills

Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Building Science, Construction Management or a related field strongly preferred

Required trade licenses and/or certifications must be maintained as applicable
