As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), you will play a critical role in delivering quality nursing care while promoting dignity, independence, and overall well-being.Position SummaryIn alignment with our mission to improve the lives of our residents, the GNA provides superior customer service and compassionate nursing care. This role safeguards the health, safety, and welfare of residents by following applicable laws, regulations, and established nursing policies and procedures.Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide quality nursing care in an environment that promotes residents' rights, dignity, and freedom of choiceAssist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feedingProvide incontinent care, transfers, ambulation assistance, and range of motion exercisesMaintain skin integrity through repositioning, incontinence care, and application of moisturizers and treatmentsMonitor and report changes in residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial conditionsCheck vital signs, obtain weights, apply prescribed creams/ointments, and collect specimens as directedSupport individualized care plans and communicate observations to nursing supervisorsAssist the Wound Care Nurse as directedDocument care accurately and maintain strict confidentialityFollow infection control standards and safety precautionsRespond promptly and courteously to call lightsAssist with admissions, re-admissions, and room transfersMaintain a warm, respectful, and professional environment for residents, families, and team membersAttend required in-services and departmental meetingsReport hazards, damaged equipment, and supply concernsAssist with training new staff membersUtilize designated computer systems proficientlyQualificationsActive GNA certification (State of Maryland or applicable state)Compassionate, patient-centered approach to careStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to follow policies, procedures, and safety standardsPrevious long-term care experience preferred, but not required
