Job description
Tutor Intelligence | Watertown, MA (on-site) | Full-time | $105,000–$140,000
Tutor Intelligence builds AI-powered robots that palletize and pick cases in real factories and warehouses across the US. We were founded by MIT alumni, are backed by leading AI and robotics investors, and are scaling to 1,000+ robots delivered by 2028. Sonny V2, our second product line, goes from engineering builds to a production ramp in Q2 2027. You'll own its purchased-part supply chain end to end: the vendor base, the buys, the buffers, the cost, and the data that tells the company what we can build and when.
What you'll own
Vendor base. Source, qualify and second-source suppliers for every purchased part on the Sonny V2 BOM, and build real partnerships with the critical ones.
The buy. POs, buffer strategy and material coverage against the build plan. You decide when to bulk-order, when to air freight and when to hold.
Clear to build. Build the tools the company runs on: clear-to-build reports (now / 30 / 60 / 90 days), shortage forecasts and lead-time trackers from our MES (ION) and the build forecast.
Cost. Negotiate unit cost, payment terms, MOQs and lead times down. Own landed cost and COGS visibility.
Design changes. Work with Production Engineering and R&D through the ECO process so changes land at monthly build cutovers instead of stalling the line.
Outsourcing. Evaluate and stand up contract-manufacturing and outsourced sub-assembly options, including offshore, as volume grows.
Supplier performance. Track on-time delivery and quality, and scale early when a supplier slips.
What you bring
5+ years in supply chain, procurement or strategic sourcing for a hardware product, ideally through an NPI ramp from prototype to production
Hands-on experience managing Chinese suppliers: factory qualification, payment terms, sea vs. air freight, customs
Negotiation wins you personally drove, with numbers
MRP-style, clear-to-build or shortage-forecasting tools you built in Excel, SQL, Python or BI, not just used
Working fluency in an ERP/MES/PLM (ION, NetSuite, Arena, Odoo, SAP or similar) and a revision-controlled BOM
You can read a drawing and talk tolerances with an engineer and a supplier
Willing to be on the shop floor and occasionally on a plane to a supplier
Nice to have
Robotics, automation, EV, drone or other electromechanical products
Contract manufacturing / EMS experience, or having run a China-based sourcing agent
APICS, CPSM, CSCP or Lean Six Sigma
How we work
We hire for gumption, a beginner's mindset and customer obsession. You see the gap in the build plan and close it before anyone asks. You ask why a part costs what it costs. You never forget that a late part is a late robot for a customer counting on it. Mindset and ownership matter more than credentials.
Compensation and benefits
$105,000–$135,000 base depending on experience. Fully employer-paid health insurance, 401(k), unlimited PTO and in-office meals.
