nAs Abdo's ( governmental consulting team continues to grow, we are looking for a Senior Associate to join the team. This team provides accounting and financial services to our city, county, and special district clients. Our services include fractional CFO and staffing, long-term planning, budgeting/forecasting, audit preparation, process improvement, utility rate analysis, research/policy drafting, and software implementation.

n nKey responsibilities include:
nnnPerform a variety of accounting and consulting services, such as:
n
nnConsult and communicate with all levels of client accounting & finance teams
n
nnProcess and post day-to-day accounting transactions
n
nnReview clients' internal financials and internal team work for accuracy
n
nnPerform period-end closes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
n
nnPrepare financial statements and internal management reports
n
nnProvide clients with fully-customized and user-friendly dashboards, metrics, and analytical reporting
n
nnCollaborate on the budget and long-term planning process for clients
n
nnAssist with year-end close and preparation of work papers for the annual audit, where appropriate
n
nnShare strategic guidance on key accounting and financial management issues
n
nnAdvise and provide insight into client specific industries and the marketplace
n
nnContribute to process evaluations and special analysis projects
n
nnImplement integrated technology solutions for client accounting teams and provide ongoing support
n
nnMaintain financial data, records and reports in accordance with guidelines, procedures, and regulations
n
nnPrepare sales and use tax returns
n
nnProvide documentation and support for the client audits
n
nnCoordinate project assignments and workflow for team members, providing day-to-day guidance, support, and technical training as needed
n
nnDemonstrate progression in application of knowledge on more complex engagements
n
nnProvide initial review of entry-level work performed by interns and associates
n
nnHarness effective, firm-approved technological solutions to provide clients with comprehensive accounting and financial information; Utilize AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and accuracy, while exercising appropriate professional judgement
n
nnExercise discretion and judgement when working with confidential client matters
n
n nIdeal Senior Associate candidate has:
nnnBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
n
nn3+ years of relevant experience, public accounting or audit experience preferred
n
nnCPA or plans to pursue CPA preferred
n
nnExperience in the local government/utility industry and/or governmental accounting preferred
n
nnKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, various software applications and pertinent federal and state regulations
n
nnProficient in advanced MS-Excel functions
n
nnDesire to work in a fast-paced environment
n
nnCollaborative spirit and adaptability to change

nAt Abdo, we are committed to providing fair, transparent, and competitive compensation that reflects the unique skills and experiences of each candidate. The estimated base pay range for this role is $75,500 - $100,500. Offers are typically made below the maximum to allow room for future compensation increases in the role. The compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications, skills, and business needs.
