Job description
Grain Mill OperatorThe Grain Mill Operator will actively monitor operations to ensure quality control and maintain smooth operation. They will also be responsible for running and maintaining boilers, and roller mills, and performing preventative maintenance. This position will be responsible for assisting with all operations including operating a loader. Responsible for ensuring the output of high-quality flaked grains. Follow safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in compliance with feed safety regulations. Document production data, equipment performance, and inventory levels. Monitor grain and product inventory, ensuring proper storage to prevent spoilage. This position reports to the Elevator Manager.Overview of the role: Operate and maintain grain milling and steam equipment to process grains into flakes. Key objectives: Ensure efficient production, maintain product quality, and adhere to safety and sanitation standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Closely watch operations to maintain flaked grain quality and production outputOperate loaderAssist in receiving commodities and determining moisture contentParticipate in daily repairs and maintenance of the grain elevatorComply with all FDA, OSHA, HACCP, and other safety procedures, rules, and regulationsMaintain consistent and reliable attendanceQuality ControlSafety complianceSanitationRecordkeepingInventory ManagementOther duties as assignedQualifications:Good verbal and written communication skillsBasic math skillsKeen attention to detailGood time management skillsMechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting equipmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentEducation and Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferredOR previous experience in grain milling, food processing or machine operation and/or training preferredPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
