Job description

Grid Software Engineering Quality Lead – GE Vernova

Job Summary

The Grid Software Engineering Quality Lead will drive a cross‑portfolio consolidated program to improve our product quality, resulting in increased customer satisfaction and NPS. Quality includes the "left side" of the quality curve by decreasing defects being released, the right side by managing incoming issues more effectively, and the outside of the curve where expectations, requirements, and scope create perceived quality issues.

Roles and Responsibilities

Champion engineering quality across the GridOS portfolio and develop deep expertise in Grid modernization software.

Own the quality strategy for GridOS engineering: define and operationalize standards, automation frameworks, test strategies, and quality guardrails.

Elevate engineering execution: drive adoption of modern quality engineering practices (build‑in‑quality, shift‑left testing, defect containment, continuous validation, deployment verification testing, AI‑assisted quality tooling), partner with platform and application teams to set expectations, ensure instrumentation, continuously reduce MTTR and defect leakage.

Lead cross‑functional quality initiatives by collaborating with Product, SRE/Operations, Architecture, Program Management, and Services.

Guide teams through complex technical decisions, evaluate conflicting data, synthesize insights, use data to drive decisions and ensure the highest reliability for mission‑critical grid software.

Drive measurable customer impact: ensure every release strengthens customer trust by improving stability, compatibility, scalability, and upgrade readiness; drive continuous improvement programs, defect reduction initiatives, and quality KPIs across all Grid Software teams.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of relevant engineering or quality experience).

Desired Characteristics

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, actionable direction.

Proven leadership in modern software quality practices (automation, CI/CD, performance engineering, resilience testing, cloud reliability).

Demonstrated ability to drive large cross‑functional initiatives and align stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and Operations.

Experience leading quality efforts for SaaS, cloud‑native, or large‑scale distributed systems.

Strong problem‑solving skills with a track record of improving quality outcomes in high‑scale engineering environments.

Ability to plan, execute, and govern quality programs across multiple product areas.
