Grinding Operator ShiftGrinding Operator Shift: 1st 5am-3:30pm 2nd 3:30pm-2am Location: Houston, TX 77082 (Energy Corridor) Start: ASAP Pay: $18/ hourThe Grinding operator assists the Grinding group with grinding fittings, joint restraints, and other items as needed. This position is accountable for maintaining a safe, efficient, and accurate grinding /warehouse operation, ensuring the best possible service for the customer and coworkers, a standard we are proud to uphold.Essential FunctionsMust have experience with castings and fittings and know how to grind castingsWant to learn grinding and essential warehouse operationsMust have grinding experience in casting and fittingsMust have experience with hand tools/grinding tools and pneumatic air equipmentShould be able to perform any other activity assigned from time to timeMaintains Grinding Booths/warehouse and yard environments to provide the cleanest and safest environment possibleMust be able to carry at least 45lbs constantlyDuties and ResponsibilitiesHas the product been inspected for accuracy and qualityPackages products per Star Pipe Products' standardsMust wear proper PPE while in the Griding booth areaMust wear goggles while working in the grinding areaSweeps floors; operates the floor scrubberMust be able to wear a respirator for extended periods of timeCollects and disposes of trash from Grinding booths, warehouses, and yardInspects bins, equipment, and warehouse for safety; takes appropriate safety precautions and wears proper personal protective equipmentCommunicates issues such as equipment damage, incidents, safety concerns, etc., to managementOther duties as assignedEducation/ExperienceRequired:Must have a high school diploma or GED1-3 years of experience completing warehouse tasksPreferred:1-3 years of grinding experience in a production or manufacturing environmentKnowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:Required:Excellent situational awarenessExcellent attention to detailPreferred:Clear, concise, and accurate communication skillsAbility to prioritize effectivelyExcellent teamwork skillsBasic computer experienceAbility to pay attention to detailKnowledge of 6s and Lean ManufacturingPhysical DemandsAble to lift, move, and carry materials up to 45 pounds constantly.Will be required to reach, stand, walk, or crouch during a 10-hour shiftMust be able to be on feet continuously during a 10-hour shiftMust be able to lift 45 lbs frequently during a 10-hour shiftMust be able to climb 4 feet onto and off of a fork truck repetitively during a 10-hour shiftMust be able to kneel and bend at the knees frequently during a 10-hour shiftMust be able to push and pull 300 lbs with a pallet jack frequently during a 10-hour shiftMust be able to use wrist and hands frequently during a 10-hour shift
