Job TitleScope Of ResponsibilitiesPerform routine grounds maintenance dutiesReports To: Facilities Director/SuperintendentDays: 240Distinguishing CharacteristicsAssigned routine grounds keeping dutiesPerforms semi-skilled gardening and grounds maintenance duties on school grounds and landscaped areas and involves specialized duties such as concrete work and installing and maintaining playground equipmentOperate grounds equipment, perform landscape construction and lead other grounds personnel as assignedRepresentative Duties / Essential Functions1. Perform routine grounds maintenance duties as directed2. Prune and trim trees, hedges and shrubs; weed and rake grounds; apply fertilizers, pesticides and sod conditioners as needed3. Operate hedge trimmer, hand and power tools and snow removal equipment; make routine adjustments and minor repairs to equipment4. Rake leaves and remove trash; sweep walkways5. Perform general custodial duties incidental to grounds-keeping activities6. Assist in the preparation and lining of athletic fields as assigned7. Assist in the installation of playground equipment8. Maintains regular and predictable attendance (note: flexible scheduling is required)9. Adheres to the professional code of ethics10. Successfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job function11. Perform related duties as assigned (note: this position includes some building custodial duties)Knowledge And Abilities Knowledge OfOperation of hand and power tools and equipment used in grounds-keepingBasic grounds maintenance procedures including mowing, edging, raking and weedingMethods, equipment and materials used in gardening and grounds-keeping workHealth and safety regulationsAbility ToPerform general grounds maintenance duties including mowing, edging and weedingPerform routine and semi-skilled grounds maintenance dutiesLift heavy objectsUse a variety of tools and machines utilized in the basic tradeSafely operate power equipmentPerform heavy physical laborMow, edge, water, weed, fertilize, rake and cultivate lawns, flower beds, athletic fields and other landscaped areasMinimum Qualifications1. Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law2. Valid Kentucky driver's license
