Grounds WorkerMaintenance Building - Shelby Township, MI 48315 Start Date 09/30/2026Salary Range $17.82 Hourly Position Type Part Time Education Level High School Category GovernmentDescriptionPart-Time/Seasonal Grounds Maintenance WorkerThe Charter Township of Shelby Parks, Recreation & Maintenance Department is now accepting applications for a Part-Time/Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker.This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of Township parks, facilities, and grounds. Applicants must be available to work approximately 30–40 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., during the summer season.Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to:Open and maintain parks, including emptying trash receptacles, inspecting restrooms, and raking playground areasPrepare and maintain ball fields by raking, dragging fields with groomers, chalking lines, and changing basesMow and trim turf using mowers and string trimmersWeed and mulch landscape bedsTrim brush along walking, hiking, and biking trailsPlant flowers, shrubs, and other landscaping materialsPaint park structures and facilitiesPick up and deliver parts, tools, and suppliesAssist full-time employees with various maintenance and improvement projectsPerform seasonal duties such as shoveling snow, salting sidewalks, and plowing sidewalks and park areas as neededMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:Must be 18 years of age or older to operate Township vehicles and equipmentMust have a valid Driver's LicenseExperience with grounds maintenance or landscaping equipment is preferred but not requiredAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and coldAbility to work some weekends, evenings, and holidaysAbility to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periodsAbility to follow verbal and written instructions
