Job description

Landscape Maintenance TechnicianPenn State Health is seeking an experienced Landscape Maintenance Technician to help maintain the beauty, safety, and functionality of our healthcare campus. This position performs skilled grounds maintenance, landscaping, lawn care, and landscape improvement activities while supporting seasonal campus maintenance operations.Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, edging, landscape maintenance, mulching, planting, leaf removal, snow removal, and operating commercial landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other power tools. This role also assists with herbicide and pesticide applications in accordance with safety standards and departmental procedures.Ideal candidates have experience maintaining commercial landscapes, enjoy working outdoors, and take pride in delivering high-quality grounds maintenance across a large campus environment.Why Join UsFlexible shift opportunities with 24-hour maintenance coverageLimited weekend schedulingYear-round employment with diverse seasonal responsibilitiesOpportunity to support one of the region's leading academic medical centersMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent or obtain within six (6) months of start date.Valid PA Certified Public Pesticide Applicator License Cat 23 + Core, or be able obtain within 6 months of hire, required.Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide an MVR annually.Prior experience proficiently operating various landscape/lawn care equipment, construction equipment, various size trucks/trailers, and tractors with manual and automatic transmissions.Minimum two (2) years of prior experience plowing snow with trucks and grounds equipment required.Prior experience proficiently operating a skid loader required.Test in horticulture knowledge and equipment maintenance operations will be administered.A minimum score of 75% must be achieved on a written and a skills (hands on) test. This test will include but will not be limited to: operation of various landscape/lawn care equipment and tools, and operation of a skid loader.Preferred Qualifications:Two (2) years of horticulture experience required.
