Grounds Keeper/LandscaperWage/Hour Status: Non-exemptReports to: Director of FacilitiesPay Grade: 4Dept. /School: FacilitiesDays: 247Supervises: NonePrimary Purpose:To maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscapingQualifications:Basic grounds maintenance knowledgeEducation/ Qualifications:Must have a high school diploma or GEDValid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to read and understand written instructionsAbility to communicate verballyAbility to operate tractors and/or landscaping equipmentAbility to operate riding and/or power mowers, power tools, gas and/or electric weed trimmers, blowers, edger's, sprayers, striping machines, post hole augers, hand tools, aerators and light duty trucks or vansExperience:NoneReports to: Grounds ForemanMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Mow and detail the grounds and around fence lines, parking lots exterior buildings etc.Care for trees, shrubs and/or any vegetation (including any turf areas) by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching and controlling unwanted grass or weedsPlant shrubs and vegetationProvide proper care for all flowerbedsCollect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish and remove from district buildings and groundsOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed district safety procedures and report any unsafe working conditions that are not correctable to your supervisorTransport equipment to work sites throughout the districtPerform other duties as assignedWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Working outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and/or fertilizers) and loud noises.
