District Paid Employee 31-day Short-Term Disability Insurance Complete details for both at Accrued Temporary Leave (Sick Leave) Accrual starts from 1st day of employment Accrue 1 day/month with no accrual maximum Accrued Vacation Accrual starts from 1st day of employment Accrue 10 days after 1 year of service 12 Paid HolidaysPurpose Statement The job of Groundskeeper is done for the purpose/s of providing guidance, assistance and oversight to assigned mow crew; mowing and trimming all District properties; maintaining attractive and safe grounds areas; and protecting against erosion.Essential Functions Assists with grounds landscape and grounds renovations for the purpose of maintaining these areas aesthetics and functionality. Assists with snow removal (e.g. snow plowing, shoveling, sanding, salting, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe area clear of snow, in all necessary areas. Cleans landscaped areas, grass areas and related items (e.g. storm drains, fields, picks up trash, etc.) for the purpose of preventing flooding and removing hazards. Evaluates landscaped areas (e.g. fields, parking areas, etc.) for the purpose of identifying necessary and/or potential pruning needs. Maintains pruning (e.g. trees, shrubs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring an attractive productive growth. Maintains lawn areas (e.g. mowing, trimming, blowing off sidewalks, etc.) for the purpose of providing attractive, clean, and safe grounds areas. Monitors landscaped areas, sprinkler systems and grounds (e.g. fields, parking areas, etc.) for the purpose of identifying repairs and/or replacement needs and providing an attractive environment. Operates a variety of equipment (e.g. trucks, hedgers, mowers, sheers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining attractive District grounds. Oversees assigned crews, vehicles, equipment, and daily production (e.g. maintains inventory of assigned tools and/or equipment including cleanliness, records of activities/instructions of workers, etc.) for the purpose of providing information to supervisors; ensuring guidance, instruction and/or assistance to employees in the completion of tasks. Plants a variety of landscaping materials (e.g. lawns, shrubbery, flowers, etc.) for the purpose of keeping the grounds attractive and protecting against erosion. Prepares a variety of written and electronic documentation (e.g. reports, memos, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. Prepares grounds (e.g. courtyards, flower beds, etc.) for the purpose of providing an attractive site and/or safe field for scheduled events. Requests necessary items (e.g. materials, supplies, equipment, and/or support personnel, etc.) for the purpose of completing assignments in a timely manner.Groundskeeper Page 1 of 3 Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, injured and ill students, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution. Supports landscape/irrigation technicians, and/or other departments and/or staff, as needed, (e.g. trimming, planting, field blowouts, irrigation repairs/installation, assembling/installing sporting event items and/or equipment, etc.) for the purpose of providing assistance in the completion of tasks. Transports a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, debris, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.Other Functions Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in grounds maintenance including tractors, weed whips, mowers, hand and power tools, etc.; and adhering to safety practices.KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read and follow instructions; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: method of preparing and maintaining various plants, shrubs, lawns, etc.; and safety practices and procedures.ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate.
