Job description
GroundskeeperMaintain the aesthetic appeal and health of the Pomfret School landscape and ensure that grounds are safe for the campus community.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Complete assigned daily maintenance per the Lead GroundskeeperComplete seasonal grounds maintenance work including snow and ice removal, planting bed maintenance, tree and shrub care, spring clean-up and fall leaf clean-upComplete work orders within the assigned time frameAbility to write routine instructions, reports, logs, and descriptions of equipment problems and needsExecute daily, preventative maintenance operations on all assigned vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.Wear all required safety equipment when conducting workProvide assistance to other department members as needed in the completion of work tasks and provide appropriate support for major events such as but not limited to Commencement and Opening of SchoolAdhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee HandbookContinually meet or exceed Pomfret School's Standards of Behavior, Character, and EngagementPerform other duties as assignedRequirements:Qualifications:Minimum of 1-3 years landscape maintenanceKnowledge of grounds equipment maintenanceHigh School diploma, GED, or equivalent technical school certificationMust hold and maintain a valid unrestricted US driver's licenseOSHA Certification preferredWork Conditions:Physical Environment:Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditionsFrequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, hazardous chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme heatOccasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particlesUsually exposed to moderate noise levelPhysical Demands:Operates a motor vehicle on a daily basisRegularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, often lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 poundsRegularly climb and/or balance up to 10 feet, and often climb and or balance up to 25 feetRegularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feelRegularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlFrequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smellOccasionally required to sitRegular use of close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
