Job description
The position is located in San Simon, AZ. TON.
nPosition Summary:
nUnder close supervision, provides a safe, healthy, positive and productive environment for residents of the group home. Respects the rights of residents in the Group Home.
nThe work is normally reviewed in progress and upon completion of each assignment to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and conformance to established standards; most aspects of the work tasks are covered by detailed instructions or procedures.
nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
nnAssists residents in daily living activities to include: cooking, cleaning, washing, dressing, and other related activities as assigned.
nCoordinate and attend medical appointments of the individuals serviced.
nDispenses medication within established guidelines to residents as required.
nPerforms activities related to maintaining the cleanliness of the home.
nEnsures adherence to the policies and procedures by the group home residents; disciplines residents and recommends or initiates other measures to control behavior.
nPrepares and serves meals to residents.
nMaintains a log of behavioral activities of each resident according to established policies and procedures. Reviews previous shift logs for pertinent information.
nParticipates in counseling or treatment of behavioral or physical disorders with residents as needed.
nGives instructions to residents regarding desirable health and personal habits.
nPlans and leads recreational activities and participates or instructs residents in activities.
nEscorts and drives residents to/from designated activities and appointments.
nMaintains professional knowledge by attending meetings, training, educational workshops, classes and conferences.
nAdvises and assists in individual development efforts by identifying problems/issues and referring to supervisor.
nPerforms other job related duties as assigned and contributes to a team effort.
n nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
nnKnowledge of O'odham traditions, language, history and culture.
nKnowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements.
nKnowledge of Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).
nSkill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers.
nSkill providing homemaker services, housekeeping, meal preparations, laundry, etc.
nSkill in providing bathing, dressing, and personal grooming.
nAbility to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate leadership and team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm.
nAbility to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
nAbility to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
nAbility to maintain privileged confidential information.
nAbility to work independently and meet strict time lines.
nAbility to work extended hours and various work schedules.
nAbility to travel within the interior/exterior boundaries of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
n nMinimum Qualifications:
nHigh School Diploma or General Education Diploma and three years' work experience with children, seniors, or disabled, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
nLicenses, Certifications, Special Requirements:
nnMust obtain a Food Handler's Card within three months of hire.
nMust obtain certifications in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid within the first six months of hire.
nUpon recommendation for hire, a criminal background and National FBI check is required to determine suitability for hire, including a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record.
nMay require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years).
nIf required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles.
nBased on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English as a condition of employment.
