Demonstrated ability to independently perform mechanical assembly, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Experience using hand tools, power tools, calibrated and torque tooling, and basic precision-measurement equipment. Experience interpreting and executing work from mechanical drawings, fabrication/assembly drawings, schematics, P&IDs, work instructions, or comparable technical documentation. Experience with tubing, piping, valves, fittings, hydraulic or pneumatic systems, process equipment, or other mechanical fluid systems. Understanding of controlled workmanship, configuration control, cleanliness, safety, and documentation requirements. Hands-on stainless-steel tubing fabrication, manual tube bending, tube preparation, and Swagelok or comparable compression-fitting systems experience. Experience with NPT, AN, MS, flange, Grayloc, or comparable fluid connections and welded tubing/piping systems. Experience with high-pressure gas, cryogenic, hydraulic, pneumatic, oxygen-clean/high-purity fluid systems, pressure testing, hydrostatic proof testing, pneumatic leak testing, or system commissioning. Familiarity with orbital tube welding operations or preparation requirements. Experience with cranes, rigging, forklifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, or other material-handling equipment. Experience working with controlled hazardous energy, LOTO, pressurized systems, and other stored-energy hazards. Familiarity with ASME B31.3 or similar industrial piping requirements. Experience with JIRA, electronic work orders, MES, SAP, Maximo, Confluence, Microsoft Office, or comparable work-management systems. Experience producing photographic installation records or other configuration-control documentation.

Job Description: The GSE Build Technician II independently performs fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, verification, and modification of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) supporting production, testing, and launch operations. This role works closely with GSE Engineering, Test Operations, Launch Operations, Quality, and other technical organizations to build and maintain test stands, launch infrastructure, mechanical and fluid systems, and supporting equipment.

Work may include stainless-steel tubing and piping, valves, regulators, instrumentation, fluid panels, structural supports, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, high-pressure gas and cryogenic systems, pumps, and other mechanical GSE. Level II Technicians independently execute defined scopes of work, from reviewing assignments and preparing tools and materials through fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, verification, and documentation. They are expected to resolve routine problems independently and recognize when Engineering, Quality, EHS, or leadership involvement is required.

Level II operating principle: Give me the work.

This role is located at our customer's production facility in Briggs, Texas, north of Cedar Park.

Responsibilities: Independently build, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify, and upgrade launch pad, test stand, production, and facility GSE. Fabricate and install mechanical and fluid-system assemblies from released engineering documentation, including tubing, piping, valves, regulators, gauges, instrumentation, manifolds, panels, supports, and associated hardware. Measure, prepare, bend, route, fit, and install stainless-steel tubing and piping using approved methods and materials. Install common mechanical and fluid connections, including compression fittings, NPT, AN/MS-style connections, flanges, and other approved interfaces; properly select and install seals, fittings, and hardware. Perform controlled fastener installation and torque operations using calibrated tooling while maintaining high standards for workmanship, cleanliness, component orientation, accessibility, and support placement. Read and independently interpret mechanical, fabrication, and assembly drawings, schematics, P&IDs, work instructions, and other technical documentation; compare installed hardware against engineering requirements and identify configuration discrepancies. Plan and prepare assigned work by identifying required tooling, hardware, materials, consumables, access equipment, and supporting resources; anticipate upcoming tasks and coordinate parallel work to minimize downtime. Perform dimensional and visual inspections, routine troubleshooting, system verification, leak checks, flushing, cleaning, commissioning, and other qualified test activities. Support high-pressure gas, cryogenic, hydraulic, pneumatic, pump, valve, and other stored-energy systems, including hydrostatic proof testing and pneumatic testing when trained and qualified. Follow pressure-system controls, exclusion zones, barricading, stored-energy controls, LOTO, FOD, ESD, PPE, contamination-control cleanliness, and other applicable safety and quality requirements. Recognize conditions requiring Engineering, Quality, EHS, or leadership involvement and provide constructability and operability feedback when issues are identified. Support test-stand and launch-site construction, system modifications, upgrades, verification, commissioning, and maintenance activities. Participate in rigging, crane, forklift, aerial-lift, and other material-handling activities when trained and qualified. Maintain clean, organized, flight-ready and test-ready work areas and complete required equipment and work-area inspections. Document work in JIRA or other assigned electronic work-management systems, including installation photos, configuration details, discrepancies, constraints, and outstanding actions. Coordinate work with adjacent technicians and work groups; support Level I technicians through hands-on instruction, demonstration, and informal mentorship. Participate in continuous improvement activities involving tooling, work sequencing, organization, fabrication methods, and execution processes. Support test and launch operations under the direction of the applicable operations or engineering organization.
