Job description

Leadership Opportunity at Great Clips

Join your locally owned Great Clips® salon team and step into a leadership role where you can make a real impact. If you're a licensed stylist who enjoys coaching others, building strong teams, and helping a salon run at its best, this could be the next step in your career. Whether you're currently an Assistant Manager or an experienced stylist ready to take on full leadership responsibility, we'd love to connect with you. Lead a locally and veteran-owned Fairfax salon at Turnpike Shopping Center on Pickett Road, voted Fairfax's No. 1 Best Barbershop in the 2026 FFXNow Readers' Choice Awards. Earn $25–$30 per hour on average, including $18/hour base pay, tips and 10% retail commission, plus paid time off, incentives and free training. Coach a supportive team, build schedules, uphold 14–17-minute haircuts and grow customer counts and retail sales. Easy retirement savings with RetirePathVA. Virginia cosmetology or barber license and weekend availability required; Sundays are the priority.

Why you'll love it here Great Clips salons give Salon Managers the opportunity to do what you love, along with the support, structure, and resources to lead confidently and build a strong team culture:

Great, reliable hourly wage plus tips

Flexible scheduling with dependable retail hours

Job stability and a steady flow of customers driven by the marketing of the largest hair salon brand in the world — no self-marketing to find clients, booth rent or hidden fees, and no appointments required

Potential for recognition for great performance and team success

Exclusive discounts on professional salon tools and products

Leadership and technical training to help you grow your skills, the team, and the salon

The opportunity to coach, develop, and motivate a team of stylists

Clear systems, expectations, and operational support

Innovative salon technology — like Online Check-In and the Great Clips App — that helps take care of the busy work so you can focus on what you love most: delivering great haircuts

A team environment where stylists help each other succeed

Consistent income you can count on — without upselling pressure, commission stress, or competition for walk-ins

Employee offerings like medical benefits and paid time off (PTO) may be available at certain locations.

What you bring to the team To join a Great Clips salon team as a Salon Manager, you'll need:

A valid Cosmetology and/or Barber License (requirements vary by state/province)

Strong technical haircutting skills and the ability to help others grow their skills and confidence

Proven leadership ability or readiness to take on full salon responsibility

Excellent communication skills and the desire to motivate, develop, and support a team

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage day-to-day salon operations

Comfort with technology and salon tools (scheduling systems, metrics, and reports)

A goal-oriented mindset with a focus on team performance and customer experience

Adaptability and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Who we are As the world's largest salon brand, with over 4,400 locally owned and operated salons across the U.S. and Canada, Great Clips combines strong brand recognition, marketing, and support with a close-knit, team-oriented culture. We're passionate about cutting hair and providing great value for the whole family. Talented teams of skilled professionals, along with convenient hours and a great haircut experience, set us apart in our communities.
