Hardwood Flooring Installer / ApprenticeCedar Rapids, IA AreaFull-Time | Monday–Friday$18–$35/hour, based on experience | Overtime paid at time-and-a-halfA locally owned, high-end hardwood flooring company in the Cedar Rapids area is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join its team as a hardwood flooring installer. Open to an apprentice.This is an opportunity to work directly alongside the owner, receive hands-on training, and learn the complete hardwood flooring process. Most projects are residential, with some commercial work. The company takes pride in delivering quality craftsmanship, paying close attention to the details, and treating each customer's property with care.Previous flooring experience is welcome but not required. The owner is willing to train the right person who is dependable, hardworking, comfortable using power tools, and interested in developing a valuable skilled trade.What You'll DoInstall hardwood flooring in residential and commercial propertiesSand, stain, seal, and finish hardwood floorsPrepare floors and work areas for installation or refinishingMeasure, cut, and fit flooring materials accuratelySafely operate sanders, saws, hand tools, and other equipmentProtect customers' homes, furnishings, and surrounding work areasMaintain clean, organized, and professional jobsitesLoad, unload, and transport tools and flooring materialsFollow established installation, finishing, and safety proceduresCommunicate professionally with the owner, coworkers, contractors, and customersWhat We're Looking ForDependable attendance and a strong work ethicCareful attention to detail and pride in the finished productWillingness to learn, take direction, and develop new skillsAbility to work independently and alongside the owner as part of a small teamExperience using hand and power tools, or the ability to learnAbility to perform physical work throughout the day, including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periodsAbility to work respectfully and professionally in customers' homesValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to travel to jobsites throughout the Cedar Rapids areaPrevious experience in flooring, carpentry, construction, remodeling, painting, woodworking, or another hands-on trade is helpful but not required.ScheduleFull-time, Monday through FridayWeekend work is generally not requiredOccasional overtime may be available or required based on project schedulesAll hours worked over 40 are paid at time-and-a-halfCompensation and Benefits$18–$35 per hour, based on flooring experience and overall skill levelOvertime paid at time-and-a-halfPaid holidaysInsurance options availableHands-on training directly from the ownerOpportunity to learn a specialized trade and increase your earning potential as your skills developSmall-team environment where reliability, craftsmanship, and individual contributions are valuedIf you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in seeing the results of your effort, and want to build long-term skills in a specialized trade, we encourage you to apply.
