Job description
New York City (4 days onsite)
$360k base + equity
We're working with a fast-growing fintech infrastructure startup building technology that enables seamless money movement between traditional finance and crypto.
They're looking for a Head of Compliance to build and own their compliance function as the business scales.
This is a hands-on, first compliance hire role, working closely with the General Counsel, CEO and engineering teams.
You'll be responsible for
Building and owning the company's compliance framework from the ground up
Developing sanctions screening, risk assessment and regulatory policies
Managing blockchain analytics, transaction monitoring and compliance tooling
Embedding compliance controls directly into product and engineering workflows
Managing external advisors, vendors and regulatory relationships
Expanding compliance coverage across crypto and fiat payment infrastructure
What they're looking for
8+ years in compliance, with significant experience in crypto / digital assets
Strong understanding of OFAC sanctions and on-chain compliance
Direct experience with non-custodial / self-custody infrastructure
Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics and transaction monitoring tools
Previous startup experience is essential, ideally building compliance functions from scratch
Strong career progression and a consistent employment history
Comfortable operating independently and making complex regulatory decisions
Bonus points for experience with US money transmission regulations, MSB licensing and fiat payment rails.
They're looking for someone who has demonstrated long-term ownership and progression in previous roles, rather than frequent short tenures.
If you've built compliance infrastructure in crypto and want to take ownership of the function at a high-growth fintech startup, I'd love to chat.
