Job description

Lead the Growth of an Organization Transforming Healthcare Access

Since its founding in 2008, Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine (CVVIM) has provided free, high-quality healthcare to uninsured adults throughout the Coachella Valley and Greater Morongo Basin. Over the years, CVVIM has delivered more than 50,000 patient visits to over 5,600 unique patients, providing compassionate medical care and countless other health-related services that help individuals access essential healthcare regardless of their ability to pay.

CVVIM is seeking an accomplished and relationship-driven Head of Development to lead fundraising efforts that sustain and expand this critical mission.

This mid-level fundraising leadership position is ideal for a development professional ready to take the next step in their career. Working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Head of Development will lead major gifts, grant development, donor stewardship, annual giving, sponsorships, and fundraising initiatives that strengthen the organization's long-term sustainability. Success in this role will require strong collaboration across CVVIM's staff, volunteers, Board members, healthcare providers, and community partners to advance the organization's mission and fundraising goals.

What You'll Do

Lead CVVIM's major gifts, annual giving, grant writing, donor stewardship, and fundraising initiatives.

Build and manage relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and community partners.

Partner with the Executive Director and Board members to cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic support.

Develop sponsorship opportunities and provide strategic oversight for fundraising events, including CVVIM's annual gala and golf tournament.

Research, write, and manage grant proposals, reports, and funding applications.

Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and implement fundraising strategies that support organizational growth, sustainability, and long-term community impact.

Monitor and report on key fundraising performance metrics, including donor acquisition, retention, major gifts, grant revenue, campaign results, and progress toward annual fundraising goals.

Qualifications

Required

3-5 years of fundraising, development, advancement, or related experience.

Demonstrated success in major gifts, grants, annual giving, donor development, or related fundraising activities.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders.

Experience with donor databases or CRM systems.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Commitment to ethical fundraising and donor stewardship.

Preferred

Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, community health, human services, or related mission-driven organizations.

Successful track record securing major gifts and institutional funding.

Grant writing and grant management experience.

Experience working with boards, committees, or fundraising volunteers.

Salary Range: $85,000-$105,000 DOE

Performance-based bonus opportunities may be available based on the achievement of agreed-upon fundraising goals and organizational objectives.
