Job description
Head of Financial Crime - Associate Partner

This is a senior subject matter expert role for an established Financial Crime practitioner with the experience and credibility to advise major financial institutions on complex regulatory, remediation and transformation challenges.
The successful candidate will be recognized as a Financial Crime SME and trusted adviser, working directly with senior client stakeholders to understand their challenges, shape solutions and provide expert guidance across the Financial Crime landscape.
The Role
Act as a senior Financial Crime subject matter expert to major banks and financial institutions
Advise senior executives across AML, KYC/CDD, Enhanced Due Diligence, sanctions, transaction monitoring, fraud and wider Financial Crime risk management
Help clients assess complex Financial Crime issues and determine the appropriate regulatory, operational and technology response
Provide senior SME leadership across Financial Crime transformation, remediation and regulatory programmes
Review existing Financial Crime frameworks, controls, governance and operating models and identify areas requiring improvement
Help clients design and implement more effective Financial Crime operating models, processes and controls
Advise on regulatory findings, remediation requirements and complex compliance challenges
Work closely with client and consulting teams to shape solutions before and during major engagements
Bring an informed perspective on regulatory developments, emerging Financial Crime risks and industry best practice
Advise clients on the application of technology, data, analytics, automation and AI within Financial Crime and Compliance
Provide subject matter leadership to multidisciplinary consulting and delivery teams
Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk, Operations and Technology
A particularly important part of the role will be supporting senior discussions with prospective clients. This is not intended to be a traditional consulting sales position. Instead, the successful candidate will bring the depth of expertise and executive credibility required to understand a client's problem, challenge thinking where appropriate and give senior stakeholders confidence in the firm's ability to address it.
Candidate Profile
Deep Financial Crime subject matter expertise, ideally spanning AML, KYC/CDD, EDD, sanctions, fraud and transaction monitoring
Strong knowledge of the US Financial Crime regulatory environment and industry best practice
Experience advising major banks or other complex financial institutions
Experience leading or providing senior SME oversight to significant Financial Crime transformation and remediation programmes
A strong understanding of Financial Crime operating models, governance, controls, processes and supporting technology
The ability to quickly understand complex client problems and translate them into practical solutions
Experience engaging with senior executives and other sophisticated stakeholders
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex Financial Crime issues clearly and credibly
Executive presence and the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
An understanding of how technology, data and AI can improve Financial Crime controls and operating models - leveraging the firms deep AI delivery capabilities
The ability to establish credibility quickly with both existing and prospective clients
This role will suit an established Director, Managing Director, Principal or Partner-level Financial Crime SME from a consulting or advisory environment. We would strongly consider a senior industry practitioner who has significant transformation and advisory experience and is comfortable operating in a client-facing consulting environment.
