LiveKit is hiring a Head of Legal for a full-time remote role based in the United States. The position pays $290,000 to $390,000 plus equity. The first dedicated lawyer will own commercial contracting, privacy, corporate governance, open-source licensing, AI governance, and telecom regulatory work. The role partners with Sales, Finance, Product, and Engineering while managing outside counsel and legal spend. The company builds open-source and cloud infrastructure for voice, video, and physical AI agents. The role is designed for an experienced commercial counsel or an early in-house lawyer who can build a legal function as a team of one.
LiveKit's platform supports production voice-driven computing through an agent platform, media server, software development kits, and cloud dashboard. The company has operated since 2021 and serves customers that include OpenAI, xAI, Salesforce, Coursera, and Spotify. Commercial Contracts And Privacy
The Head of Legal owns customer master service agreements, order forms, data-processing agreements, business associate agreements, vendor agreements, and nondisclosure agreements. The position also creates contracting playbooks and templates so commercial teams can handle recurring transactions with consistent legal guidance. Enterprise, usage-based, and data-heavy business models form the central contracting context.
Privacy and data protection run across the same work. The lawyer leads programs involving GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and HIPAA, with the company's security work covering BAAs for enterprise customers that handle protected health information. LiveKit maintains public information about its security and privacy controls , including SOC 2 Type II auditing, data-processing agreements, regional data controls, and zero retention for its inference service.
Governance Licensing And Regulation
Corporate and governance matters sit alongside Finance, including work connected to corporate structure, equity, 409A matters, and board consents.
