Job description
Health Aide (9 Month)The Health Aide provides support and assistance with the efficient operation of nursing services of the school. To accomplish these tasks, the Health Aide, under the direct supervision of the nursing staff, provides support to district nurses, teachers, and administration of the Spring Hill School District.Supervision: School PrincipalBenefits: Fringe benefits as scheduled by the Board of Education.Leave: 10 Sick Days leave per year, accumulative to seventy (70) days; 1 Day Personal leave per year, un-accumulative. One (1) additional personal day may be taken and deducted from sick leave; 2 Days Bereavement leave per year, un-accumulative. One (1) other bereavement day may be taken and deducted from sick leave; 11 paid holidaysRequired: High school diploma or equivalent.Qualifications: Active CNA and/or CMA License; Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, policies, and objectives; Possess good oral and written communication skills; Demonstrates correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; Healthcare provider CPR certification and knowledge of first aid techniques; Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle; Desire to continue professional growth.Responsibilities: Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines; Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community; React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned; Appropriately operate all health equipment as required; Support the value of a healthy and safe school environment; Support the philosophy and vision of USD 230.Physical Requirements: Requires prolonged sitting or standing; Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects up to 20lbs; Requires stooping, bending, and reaching; Must work in noisy and crowded environments; Must work well with small children and adolescents; Must be able to climb stairs and use a small stepladder; Complete work with many interruptions; Must be able to drive a vehicle for travel between district facilities; Must have confidence in learning computer skills and using Gmail.Functions: Assist with the preparation and arrangements for health screenings; Record student screening results; Schedule secondary appointments if further testing is required; Screen student records for proper immunizations; alert parents of needed immunizations, and maintain communication until records of immunization are provided; Enter immunizations into Kansas Web IZ; Assist with monthly preschool screenings; Monitor health charts and send out notices for missing information (i.e. birth certificates, etc.); Record health data on district data collection system; Distribute medications according to prescribed procedures; Assist students with using inhalers and nebulizer treatments; Perform routine first aid procedures and assist in screening ill or injured children according to established procedures; Maintain communication with the School nurse and parents as needed; Refer suspected child abuse or serious illness/injuries to school nurse according to established procedures; Keep CPR and First Aid certification current; Perform related duties as assigned by the nurse or principal; Other duties as assigned by administration or the school nurse.
