Purpose Of The JobThis position is responsible for leading and implementing direct prevention services, as well as public health policy, system, and environmental change strategies related to: Tobacco Free Environments, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Maternal and Child Health, and Health in Arizona Policy Initiatives to improve health outcomes for Gila County communities. Position will: lead the development and implementation of evidence-based strategies that promote health programs and services; assess and identify the community health requirements; and assist with developing and implementing community health programs.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position occasionally assigns activities to other employees.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - % OF TIME SPENTLeads the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of direct health services and comprehensive policy, systems, and environmental strategies to address neighborhood-level changes that have a positive influence on the health of community residents, especially in low-income communities. - 40%Works collaboratively with multiple sectors and partners to identify common interests and to formulate systemic and collaborative approaches that improve health education and prevention programs, projects, and activities. - 30%Leads and provides administrative guidance to assigned personnel; ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures; ensures that public health programs are consistent with appropriate public health laws and regulations; and acts as liaison between the funding representatives and Deputy Director. - 20%Prepares monthly/quarterly/annual reports in accordance with grant reporting requirements. - 10%Performs other duties as assignedBUDGET RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no responsibility over any types of budget.PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIESProvides project research and clerical support on organizational planning, organizational development and human resources projects.ORAL COMMUNICATION DUTIESThis position trains colleagues, explains County procedures, negotiates and persuades and responds to public inquiries.WRITTEN COMMUNICATION DUTIESThis position creates or edits documents, internal memos, emails, procedures and guidelines for public release, formal letters and reports.INTERACTIONS WITH THE GENERAL PUBLICInteracts extensively with employees, customers, the general public, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other groups and/or individuals and Institutions over the telephone, by email, and/or in person.INTERACTIONS SPECIFICALLY WITH CUSTOMERSConsistently (More than 40% but less than 55% in a year).Minimum Education/Directly Related Experience RequiredMINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREDBachelor's Degree or demonstrated public health experiences performing work requiring considerable analytical skill and project follow-up in a public health setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREDTwo (2)years directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS REQUIREDMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.Supplemental InformationKNOWLEDGE REQUIREDCustomer and personal service; database management; education; information technology and knowledge of health and wellness programming.SKILLS REQUIREDAnalytical thinking; critical thinking; analytical writing; analyzing training needs; developing training strategies; delivering training; developing alternative solutions; troubleshooting.ABILITIES REQUIREDExpress one's self orally; generate fluent new and useful ideas; make sense of multiple data; multi-task and read and write at professional level.PHYSICAL DEMANDSRoutinely stands to present and train. Regularly sits to complete report and operate computers. Routinely lifts work related materials of up to 25 lbs. in weight. Routinely requires dexterity for keyboard or mouse operations. Maybe be required to walk to and from work sites.WORK ENVIRONMENTIncumbents in this position typically work in an office environment. Occasionally spends time in classrooms.SAFETY RISK EXPOSUREIncumbents in this position are generally not exposed to safety risk. On rare occasions, may become exposed to verbal abuse by customers, patients, or citizens, physical danger, occasional mechanical hazards, bloodborne pathogen, communicable diseases, respiratory hazards, extreme temperature and wetness and humidity.PROTECTIVE GEAR & SAFETY MANUALSIncumbents in this position are required to constantly follow written safety procedures and manuals relevant to the division or department.
