Here, you will work with and learn from some of our best caregivers, receive endless support and appreciation, and build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.In the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations of patients in numerous units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. Here, you may interact with caregivers and providers across all inpatient units and may occasionally float to the Emergency Department (ED). As a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) on the team, you will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and other caregivers to promote and support positive patient experiences. Your work allows the nurse to focus solely on the patient by alleviating them from having to complete administrative/clerical tasks. This role provides the opportunity to further your education, a pathway to pursue magnet and a steppingstone to climbing the clinical ladder.A PRN caregiver in this position works varying, as-needed, shifts including 7:00AM – 3:30PM or 3:00PM – 11:30PM.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.Communicate and facilitate communication with patients, families, other departments and health care team members regarding patient care.Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High School Diploma or GEDOne year of experience in a customer service-related roleExperience with typing, computer training or equivalent courseworkPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:College degreeMicrosoft Office experiencePhysical Requirements:Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
