Job description

Heavy Equipment OperatorWe are currently taking applications for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for the Thibodaux, LA & surrounding area. Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:Job Scope:Heavy equipment operators control specialized machines used in construction, maintenance and operations. They may run excavators, loaders, cranes, pile drivers, graders and industrial trucks. While working with others, they often use hand signals or radios to coordinate movements.Required Skills:MUST have experience with operating an EXCAVATOR, SKID STEER, & BULLDOZER (1 year minimum preferred)Knowledge of reading blueprints can be helpfulMUST have experience with CUTTING GRADEMUST have experience operating equipment around pipe (Drainage, sewage, etc...)MUST have pipe laying experience (1 year minimum preferred)MUST have CONSTRUCTION background (1 Year Minimum)Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.Good verbal and written communicationExperience with cutting trenches/slopesGrading and excavation experienceAbility to use good judgement and act independentlyJob Duties/Responsibilities:Ability to coordinate with pipe crews while working inside trench or trench boxes.Will be required to lay pipe for underground storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.Communicate with concrete and/or pipe crews to accomplish taskPerform daily checks on equipmentAbility to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.Must be able to perform any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts / move and grade earth, position pipe, erect structures from the ground, move materials around the projectInspection of the machinery before and after to ensure that it is in good working condition. If upon inspection, some defects or issues are found, the operator will report them so that they can be addressed appropriately.Loading and unloading the cargo and moving it from point A to point B.Following safety, processes to ensure the quality of work.Rendering regular repairs and maintenance as needed.Reporting more serious defects for repair by an authorized service provider.Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environmentMeet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standardsReport safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediatelyPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 LBSAbility to sit or stand for long periodsHandle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basisAbility to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites.Excellent physical strength & staminaAbility to work in varying hot and cold environmentsAbility to work in an environments with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gasesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditionsThe employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shockDocuments Required:Driver's License/Identification CardSocial Security Card/Birth Certificate.Must be able to pass drug screen. Must be able to provide own PPE (hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, gloves). Must have reliable transportation (Will be required to travel up to a 60 mile radius).Pay:Starting Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 (Based on experience)Weekly PayPay Schedule: Monday - SundaySchedule:Monday - Friday (Weekends as Needed) 10-12 Hour Days (with weather permitting)Duration of Job: Temp to Hire (Based on Job Performance)
