Heavy Equipment & Tank Trailer Mechanic
nJob Summary
nKeystops is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment & Tank Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining tractors, tank trailers, and tank wagons to ensure safe and reliable operation. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with diesel equipment, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
nKey Responsibilities
nnPerform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors, tank trailers, and tank wagons.
nDiagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and brake system issues.
nRepair and replace engines, transmissions, suspensions, axles, and related components.
nInspect and maintain DOT-regulated equipment to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company standards.
nPerform welding, fabrication, and trailer repairs as needed.
nConduct tank inspections, valve repairs, hose replacements, and related tank equipment maintenance.
nComplete service records, repair orders, and maintenance documentation accurately.
nMaintain a clean and safe work environment.
nRespond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when necessary.
nWork closely with drivers, operations personnel, and management to minimize downtime.
n nQualifications
nnHigh school diploma or GED preferred.
nMinimum of 2 years of experience repairing heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tank trailers, or similar equipment.
nKnowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.
nAbility to read and interpret technical manuals and repair documentation.
nWelding and fabrication experience preferred.
nValid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
nAbility to lift up to 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
