Job Summary:
This position provides direct patient care related to physical diagnosis and therapeutic management in an ambulatory and/or inpatient setting for patients with complex medical conditions or surgical needs. Works closely with faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff to develop and coordinate a care plan that meets the needs of patients and their families. Some off-hour, weekend, and on-call work may be required.
Essential Responsibilities:
Performs history and physical examinations, formulates care plans, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests, and educates patients and families.
Acts as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation, education, literature review, and participation in seminars and conferences.
Coordinates patient care to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient-centered care. Liaises among visiting nurses, clinical staff, and consulting services. Develops comprehensive care plans and consults with physicians or surgeons for complex diagnoses.
Documents clinical encounters clearly, accurately, and promptly.
Collaborates with other health professionals to determine patient and family health needs, demonstrating an interdisciplinary approach.
Provides direct care and management for all opioid patients.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Nursing (preferred: higher degree)
Nursing License and Basic Life Support Certification
0-1 years of related experience
MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN (NRSG)
Valid prescriptive authority from MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA
American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty expertise
Experience in Pain Management
Competencies:
Strong written and oral communication skills
In-depth knowledge of healthcare practices and policies
Ability to lead collaborative teams and provide excellent customer service
Physical Requirements:
Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Requires standing and moving throughout most of the shift.
All staff must be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
