District Paid Employee 31-day Short-Term Disability Insurance Complete details for both at Accrued Temporary Leave (Sick Leave) Accrual starts from 1st day of employment Accrue 1 day/month with no accrual maximum Accrued Vacation Accrual starts from 1st day of employment Accrue 10 days after 1 year of service 12 Paid HolidaysPurpose Statement The job of High School Groundskeeper is done for the purpose/s of maintaining attractive and safe athletic fields, grounds and common areas; protecting against erosion; maintaining grounds for assemblies and/or recreational activities (e.g. track, football, graduation, etc.); and overseeing and supporting scheduled activities at the stadium facilities.Essential Functions Assists with snow removal (e.g. truck and tractor plowing, sanding, salting, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe area clear of snow, in all necessary locations. Estimates materials, equipment and/or staff resources for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of projects. Fulfills stadium supervisor role in evenings and on weekends for sporting events on a rotating schedule as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient operation of the facility for the enjoyment of fans and players. Inspects finished work for the purpose of ensuring quality standards are met and maintained. Maintains working condition, cleanliness, and/or availability of items (e.g. tools, equipment, vehicles, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability and safe working condition of appropriate items. Maintains a variety of locations and/or items in the stadium setting (e.g. cleanliness, score board, press box, sound system, lighting, gates, ticket booths, field striping, etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary stadium materials/equipment and a safe, clean facility. Performs duties of other grounds maintenance staff, as may be required, (e.g. mowing, trimming, trash pickup, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining campus grounds in accordance with established standards. Performs all aspects of stadium and sports field care for the purpose of ensuring that fields and facilities are safe and aesthetically pleasing. Prepares documentation both manual and electronic (e.g. reports, memos, service records, etc.) for the purpose of providing support and/or conveying information. Prepares grounds and athletic fields (e.g. courtyards, flower beds, chalk fields, paint stripping, etc.) for the purpose of providing adequate, attractive and safe areas for assemblies, recreational activities and/or athletic events. Procures equipment, supplies and materials needed in a stadium setting (e.g. chalk, trash cans, mowers, weed eaters, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Reviews work order requirements (e.g. hours required, equipment needs, etc.) for the purpose of prioritizing work orders and scheduling assignments.Transports a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site. Works assigned stadium activities during evenings and weekends for the purpose of ensuring scheduled activities run smoothly and the facility is properly setup, operated and secured. Works closely with Athletic Directors, booster club personnel, coaches, etc. during stadium events for the purpose of ensuring scheduled activities run smoothly, efficiently and safely.Other Functions Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in grounds maintenance; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: proper use and maintenance of tools and power equipment used in grounds maintenance; health and safety regulations; and methods of organizing, scheduling and prioritizing work loads.ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: providing work direction to assigned employees; understanding and following oral and written directions; working independently with little direction; planning and organizing work; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others; and preparing accurate records.Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, 30% standing.
