Position Overview:
Guide and mentor students from kindergarten through 12th grade in engaging after-school programs designed to spark critical thinking and creativity. You'll provide instruction in chess, robotics, and coding, rotating between schools in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. With 5-10 hours per week available, this contract role is ideal for educators seeking part-time work with a flexible schedule.
Qualifications:
Background in K-12 general education, with comfort teaching elementary, middle, or high school students.
Experience leading groups or clubs in chess, coding, robotics, or related STEM activities is highly desirable.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Reliable transportation for commuting between campuses in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Positive attitude and ability to energize and motivate diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities: Facilitate after-school sessions (between 3-6pm), tailoring lessons to various student ages and interests.
Implement engaging activities, encourage problem-solving, and build confidence in chess, robotics, and coding.
Adapt instruction to accommodate each group's skill level and learning style.
Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
Travel between up to 10 campuses as needed.
