Full-Time Maintenance WorkerThe Clay County Highway Department is now accepting applications to be considered for two open positions as a Full-Time Maintenance Worker.Starting Salary Range: $24.43 - $27.87 per hour - Negotiable with experience and qualifications *If you have a valid CDL, you will start at $27.87 per hour.Full Salary Range: $24.43-$33.86 per hourThis position will also be eligible for Clay County's benefit package. Information on Clay County's insurance benefits can be found here: Fringe-Benefit-Summary_2026Status: Non-ExemptMinimum Requirements:One-year certification from a college or tech school in Heavy Equipment Operation; or an equivalent of education and experience.1-3 years previous work experience.Class B Commercial Driver's license with Air Brake EndorsementAbility to successfully complete a background investigationTo Be Considered For The Position, Submit These Materials:Clay County Application must be submitted for all County positions.All these materials need to be returned by the application deadline.Application Information:If you are an eligible military veteran and wish to claim Veteran's Preference, you must present a legible photocopy of your DD214 form to the Office of Human Resources. All veterans who are certified will be considered for appointment.Duties And Essential Functions:Operate heavy equipment including tandem axle end dumps, skid steers, front-end loaders and tractors to spread gravel, plow snow, load trucks and haul materials.Day to day inspection and routine repair of equipment.Maintain roads by patching holes, repairing shoulders and distributing liquid asphalt.Spray weeds, cut brush and trees near bridges and on the right of way in drift prone areas.Other duties as assigned.Licenses & Certifications:Required:CDLEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
