Facility: Marsh Melvin Laird Location: Marshfield, WI Address: 701 W Kalsched St, Marshfield, WI 54449, USA Shift: 8 Hours - Night Shifts Job Schedule: Full time Weekly Hours: 40.00 Salary Range: $23.75 - $34.50 Department Details Marshfield Histology gives the ability for a histotech to work in multiple areas and grow in their career. There is also great flexibility in the department as well as no weekend or on call work for the straight night position. Job Summary Receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. Performs complex histological procedures using techniques to gross, embed, perform microtomy, and stain to make tissue slides used for diagnosis. Responsible to review slide quality. Maintains and repairs lab instruments. Disinfects work area and stocks supplies. Ensures all lab safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met. Will work with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice. Will be responsible for performing routine duties in all areas of the Histology Laboratory. May be required to interact with all ages of client population. Recognize responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care. Keep abreast of new procedures in the department as well as changes in general hospital policy and procedures. Qualifications Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required. Possess a national certification as a Histology Technician from an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or must be registry eligible upon hire and receive Histology Technician (HT) certification within twelve months.
